Quick overview:

High School, a rite of passage for all American teenagers, can be a daunting experience. Wouldn't it be nice to have a little help along the way? George Tecce, known as The Chief, takes a hiatus from his collegiate adventures to help students navigate through the often daunting labyrinth with his signature oft-kilter enlightening comedy. No topic is off limits as The Chief breaks down high school for students and parents discussing such topics as bullying, prom, and the dreaded group project. Refreshingly unique and accessible, Five High School Dialogues is the perfect all-inclusive guide to high school.

Personal opinion on the book:

This was one of the most unique forms of writing I have EVER seen. I remember back to a few years ago in english class when we learnt how to write a script. This book was EXACTLY like that!
I did initially find it a little confusing to read. Through reading this book I found that I really enjoy having insight into what the character is thinking as different events occur.
The plot itself was quite status quo, for me it didn't really stand out and was a little bit repetitive.
But aside from that, this book was actually really interesting to view. My eyes have been opened to a whole new form of layout and character portrayal that I wouldn't have ever thought of myself.
Overall, although this book's content wasn't the most interesting for me, I want to applause the author, Ian Thomas Malone for his creative writing style.

Star rating (out of 5):
This book was such a unique read and I give it a rating of 2.5/5 stars.

Anna and the French Kiss review - written by Stephanie Perkins

Quick overview:
When Anna's dad decides to ship her off to Paris for her final year of high school, things could go terribly wrong or terribly right. Through leaving behind a long-lasting crush and meeting the man of her dreams, Anna must decide between her head and her heart and find out if her time in Paris (the city of lights and love) will end with the french kiss she is waiting for.

Personal opinion on the book:
This was such a cute book. When I decided to read this book it was mainly because it sounded really adorable and also because I could feel myself beginning to fall into a reading slump and needed a quick and light-heated book to read. This book kind of reminded me of a Wattpad book gone on steroids. Aka. It felt like it was an overdose on cheesiness and cliche. But that just made me love it all the more. And no, this book is not about french kissing, it is about her kissing a cute french boy! Seriously, I really liked this book, but it was a little embarrassing to carry around just cause of the title... I personally did get kind of annoyed because of how the characters didn't just get together sooner! Like seriously! Anna meet (boy of your dreams), (boy of Anna's dreams) meet Anna. Now please date and just be done with it! But... I do understand there would be no story if that happened, but it still annoyed me!
But overall, I liked this book and found it really adorable.

Quote of the book:

Star rating (out of 5):
This was a really cute romance book. It was very cliche and was quite predictable, but that added to it's appeal. Overall I give this book a rating of 3/5 stars.

Thanks for reading this review, this was such a cute book and I will defiantly buy and read some of the other books written by Stephanie Perkins, even if they are just for when I go on holiday at the beach. (Which is actually quite impossible, since I don't even like the beach...)

Until next time, keep reading!

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children review - written by Ramsom Riggs | Movie Trailer and Review

Recently, after I arrived home from school and sat myself into the passenger side of my mum's car, I couldn't even get out my usual "How was your day?" Before my mum excitedly asked my if I had checked my facebook.
Slightly confused I replied with a no and asked a hesitant "why?..."
My mum proceed to tell me to quickly check my facebook on my phone and look at the awesome movie she had 'shared' with me.

All I though was: Okay then, the parentals... They are evolving!!!

Once I finally managed to get my phones finger scanner to work and turn on my mobile data, I could see I had a notification. (Mum) has tagged you in a post.

Clicking on the facebook app, I waited for the movie trailer to load. And up popped the banner:

Basically, lets just say that I have heard a LOT about this book and an honestly so excited to watch the trailer. Clicking play as fast as I could I waited for the movie to load. (The trailer is below!)

Now we have all seen this trailer... OMG HOW AMAZING IS IT!?!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

As soon as I had finished watching this trailer, it was official... I MUST READ THIS BOOK! So when my mum asked me what I would like for Easter, I immediately said that I would like Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ramsom Riggs. And, my mum, being the amazing person she is, gave me this book!

After I had finished reading this book I still think that the movie will be amazing, although they did change one major thing in the movie which is totally different to the book. The female lead, Emma is meant to have the peculiarity of fire, but in the movie she has the peculiarity over air... After re-watching the trailer (again!) I found that this change can actually work... Sure I wish it didn't happen, but this change will actually not ruin the movie.

Quick overview:

Jacob's grandfather has always told him amazing stories, and they are just that, stories... At least that is what Jacob believes until his grandfather is killed by one of these 'stories.' After having his family and friend (as in singular) rule him off as being crazy, the only way for Jacob to move on is to follow the hints that his grandfather left him. This clues brought him to an island where strange and mysterious things lead him back in time and to the place where all of his grandfathers 'stories' originated from... Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
But acting as a contrary to the homes outward oasis appearance, there are evils that plan on destroying these children and unleashing monsters that will stop at nothing to ruin everything.

Personal opinion on the book:

If you have read basically anything I have said in this post it would be pretty obvious that I am completely obsessed with this book and also I recommend this to every single person ever! I honestly thought that this book would contain horror, but it was nothing like that. It was written amazingly and had just the perfect amount of fantasy. I also LOVE how that author Random Riggs included photography flawlessly into the story line of the book. INCREDIBLE BOOK!

Quote of the book:
I used to dream about escaping my ordinary life, but my life was never ordinary. I had simply failed to notice how extraordinary it was. -  Jacob

The main female character is so kick-ass and makes me want to become a ninja warrior!

Summary from Goodreads:

Allie Carmichael has always believed life is simple.
You’re born.
You live.
You die.
She has no cause to believe that equation works differently for her, but there has to be a reason the world treats her like a pariah.
When an unexpected move to Kelleys Island brings Aidan McBrien crashing into her life, Allie is thrown by his reaction. He doesn’t shrink from her touch. He doesn’t stutter or make a quick exit. He smiles and welcomes her into his circle of friends, who aren’t exactly comfortable with Allie, but they seem to get her in a way most people don’t.
Finally, Allie has a real shot at normal and rides that high right up to her sixteenth birthday when she wakes in agony—an experience Aidan insists they have all faced. She struggles in ignorance, uncertain of what is real and what isn’t. When she emerges, Allie is different. She has always been different, but even among her extraordinary friends, she and Aidan are special.
As Allie struggles to maintain her tenuous grasp on the power that threatens to overwhelm her, she worries she will lose herself in this strange new world. A dangerous world where she will have to fight tooth and nail to defend the power and freedom that is her birthright.

About the Author:

Melissa A. Craven (the "A" stands for Ann—in case you were wondering) was born near Atlanta, Georgia, but moved to Cleveland, Ohio at the age of seventeen. She still thinks of Cleveland as home, so it was only natural for Emerge to take place there.
Today, she is back in Atlanta—for some reason she can't seem to stay away from the ungodly heat that makes her long for things like "lake effect snow" and wind that will knock you flat.
Melissa decided a long time ago that the “life checklist” everyone else was clutching so tightly in their fists, just wasn’t for her. She does everything backwards because she is weird like that, but then, she is an artist and artists are notoriously "unique" and "quirky."
She is an avid student of art and design, and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of West Georgia in 2009. She worked as an interior designer for several years, but she's always thought she might like to be a writer when she grows up.
In her spare time, if she has any, she enjoys shopping for derelict furniture she refinishes to exercise the interior design part of her brain.

Personal opinion on the book:
This book was absolutely amazing! I think that I liked this book WAY better than the second one, and I absolutely adored the second book!
Once again, this book left me mentally and physically hurt! I just couldn't deal with all of the amazing story lines and POV's going on at once.

Above is a video of me when I finished this book...
Let's start at the beginning: At first, I was thinking that this book was going to be based wholly around Celaena feeling bad for herself, but she is one frickin' tough cookie and toughened up and kicked some serious ASS! I LOVED the fact that she learnt how to use her fae powers, and she is just SO powerful! She is going to be the BEST queen, she will be fierce, powerful, kind and fair. When she was larning to use her fae powers with Rowan, I just loved the way that Celaena and him work so well together. And at the end of the book when Celaena proves herself to the fae queen and kicks ass and frees Rowan and Rowan become her blood-oath, I just CAN'T EVEN!
The next character is Celaena's cousin Aedion, he is just the most lovely, amazing and LOYAL person EVER! Enough said, I just LOVE him.
Since I didn't really like these two as much in this book I will put them together, Dorien and Choal, lets just say that I feel bad for Dorien and his sacrifice he made at the end of the book has my heart breaking and makes me want to read more!!! And Choal is just kinda ehhh, he didn't really do that much, all I know is that I DO NOT like him and Celaena together at the moment.... I will probs like him again later, but the the moment, just don't even look at me Choal!
And I just HAD to save the best till last! Manon!!!! She is my FAVOURITE character (alongside Celaena and Rowan!). Manon is the most kick-ass witch and I loved her loyalty to her... dragon? She is amaze-balls and I will leave my fan girling there...
Overall, this book was truly INCREDIBLE and I am so happy with it!

Quote of the book:

It was easy to pick the quote of the book as soon as I saw this fabulous image! I am not sure who created this image, but seriously! I just LOVE this image!

Books in the series:
  1. Throne of Glass
  2. Crown of Midnight
  3. Heir of Fire
  4. Queen of Shadows
  5. Coming soon! (expected publishing date: September 6th 2016)
Book containing all five novellas: The Assassin's Blade

If you like... then try...:

If you enjoyed reading the Throne of Glass series I HIGHLY recommend reading Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I read Graceling right before I started the Throne of Glass series, and lets just say that both of these female assassin's are absolutely kick-ass! In both of these books you really get to witness amazing character development and you are always on the edge of your set! Make sure to check this book out!

Star rating (out of 5):
I give this amazing book a star rating of 5/5 stars. I seriously feel as tough I have already fan-girled enough... But, I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!! Okay, I'm done...
