Life After Juliet by Shannon Lee Alexander | Cover Reveal!

Life After Juliet
Release Date: July 5th 2016
Entangled Teen

Summary:
Becca Hanson is a reader-a voracious reader. And with all those fictional friends, she never had time for real ones. Plus real ones come with uncontrollable quirks, like constantly filling a room with song, drawing on any available surface, and worst of all, dying. Real friends are more trouble than they're worth. Since her best-and only-real friend Charlotte's death six months before, Becca has returned to a life of books in order to distance herself from heartache and constant loneliness as her junior year at Sandstone High begins.

When a class project forces her into the Drama Club, she attracts the attention of not one, but TWO guys involved in the production, onstage and off. Meanwhile, she's still dealing with the grief of Charlotte's death--the fact that Charlie is away at MIT--and that she finally has to build a life for herself on her own terms. Ultimately she learns more about who she is, what she wants, how she feels--and how to find what she's looking for. (And while she isn't sure what comes next, she's pretty sure there'll be more kissing involved.)

Why Book Ambrosia?

Okay, so you are all probably wondering why I have changed to name of my blog. Firstly, my last name for this blog kinda sucked... Like seriously! novel.book.blog isn't even creative and has way too many full stops for my liking.
Secondly, I feel as though this blog is now a part of me and I don't want it to have a mediocre name.

Now that you know why I wanted to change my blog name, I will now tell you how I came up with the new name...

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

*enter me and my mother - shopping at a kitchen shop, looking for a glass jug*
I was looking around the shop, trying to find a nice jug for a party that we were hosting for some friends and their families.
Me - "Oh mum that jug looks nice!"
*points to fancy looking jug*
Mum - "Check how much it is"
*I check its price - place it down and walk away slowly*
Me - "Too much money for something to poor water! But it was so nice looking and had such a cool name!"
(It was called an ambrosia jug)
Me - "I like the word ambrosia..."
*I have a fabulous idea for a new blog name*

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Basically that's how it went down.
I have always loved Greek mythology and ambrosia is the elixir of the Gods, thus I thought it would be a really cool blog name! Add the word book at the beginning and we have a winner!

Thanks for reading! Make sure to keep an eye out for my blog post on the 05/01/16 that will be a review/promo post for an awesome sounding book: The Girl and the Gargoyle by Pauline Gruber.

Until next time, keep reading!

Summary:
When Nicole Cassidy moves from sunny Georgia to gloomy New England, the last thing she expects is to learn that her homeroom is a cover for a secret coven of witches. Even more surprisingly ... she's apparently a witch herself. Despite doubts about her newfound abilities, Nicole is welcomed into this ancient circle of witches and is bedazzled by their powers--and, to her dismay, by Blake--the school's notorious bad-boy.

Girls who get close to Blake wind up hurt. His girlfriend Danielle will do anything to keep them away, even if she must resort to using dark magic. But the chemistry between Blake and Nicole is undeniable, and despite wanting to protect Nicole from Danielle's wrath, he finds it impossible to keep his distance.

When the Olympian Comet shoots through the sky for the first time in three thousand years, Nicole, Blake, Danielle, and two others in their homeroom are gifted with mysterious powers. But the comet has another effect--it opens the portal to the prison world that has contained the Titans for centuries. After an ancient monster escapes and attacks Nicole and Blake, it's up to them and the others to follow the clues from a cryptic prophecy so that they can save their town ... and possibly the world.

Quote:
Fighting legendary creatures isn’t on the syllabus. - Nicole
Excerpt
“There’s a reason we’re required to take Greek mythology.” Blake scooted closer to me, as if about to tell me a secret, and I leaned forward in anticipation. “Did you know that we—meaning everyone in our homeroom—are descended from the Greek gods?”
I arched an eyebrow. “Like Zeus and all of them living in a castle on the clouds?” I asked.
“Exactly.” He smirked. “Except that they’re referred to as the Olympians, and they call their ‘castle in the clouds’ Mount Olympus.”
“So you’re saying that we’re gods?”

“We’re not gods.” He smiled and shook his head. “But we have ‘diluted god blood’ in us. It’s what gives us our powers.”

Personal opinion on the book:
This book seriously left me drowning in a puddle of feels! (As shown in the amazingly realistic gif below.)

I adore all of the characters in this book series and have finally found a ship that I wholeheartedly agree with #captainoftheguard! In all seriousness, the twist and turns in this plot was like a roller coaster, and I was constantly sitting on the edge of my seat, only to fall off because of the major plot twist! I am typically disappointed with second books in series, but this book was freaking amazing and I am so happy to have started this series! Another bonus is that there are quite a few books in this series and I already have purchased the third book!
At times I wanted to throw this book and at other times, all I wanted was a big box of tissues because I was crying so much! Thank you Sarah J. Maas for breaking my heart while at the same time bringing me so much joy...
Overall, this book held the perfect amount of romance and heaps of action. Adored this book!

Quote of the book:

I'd still pick you. I'll always pick you. - Celaena

  4. Queen of Shadows
  5. Coming soon! (expected publishing date: September 6th 2016)

If you like... then try...:

If you enjoyed reading the Throne of Glass series I HIGHLY recommend reading Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I read Graceling right before I started the Throne of Glass series, and lets just say that both of these female assassin's are absolutely kick-ass! In both of these books you really get to witness amazing character development and you are always on the edge of your set! Make sure to check this book out!

Star rating (out of 5):
I give this amazing book a star rating of 4.8/5 stars. This book was fantastic and its series must be read by all YA fans!

(Book 2 in The 5th Wave series: The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey)

Read the full summary and check out other books by Rick Yancey on this Goodreads link.

Personal opinion on the book:
I am the biggest fan of the 5th Wave series! I absolutely adored the first book and cannot wait to go and watch the movie (although all of us book fans know that "the book is always better").
I am normally not a fan of reading a book where over two different POV's (point of view's) present. But similarly to the first book, Rick Yancey doesn't just pull it off, he dominates this form of writing. Initially, I was quite disappointed that not much of the book was written in Cassie's POV, but I have found that I really like the character Ringer. Ringer is seriously kick-ass and I love the way she is a fighter and always thinks everything through.
This was a truly enjoyable read and I am so happy to have read this book! I cannot wait for the third book in the series, The Last Star to be published on May the 24th, 2016 (which is this year people!!!)

Quote of the book:

I am more than the sum of my fear. - Ringer
Books in the series:
  1. The 5th Wave
  2. The Infinite Sea
  3. The Last Star

If you like... then try...:

If you enjoyed the 5th Wave series I HIGHLY recommend the LUX series! The LUX series is similarly based around aliens. I absolutely adore both of these series and if you like one you will differently like the other!

Read the full summary of the first book in the LUX series, Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armatrout on this Goodreads link.

Star rating (out of 5):
Although I liked this book, in my opinion the first book in the series, The 5th Wave, was so much better than this one. That is why I give this book a rating of 3.75/5 stars. Don't get me wrong, this was a great book, but I feel like it lacked the action that I was expecting and the whole book in itself didn't really go anywhere. Still, absolutely amazing book!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Make sure to read the first book in this amazing series and to go and check out the movie in cinemas. But as a book lover, I recommend reading the book first! Here is the movie trailer, enjoy!

Until next time, keep reading!

SHADOWHUNTERS Episode 1...

Okay, so wow. I have a lot of emotions and feels going on in my head at the moment. I legitimately finished watching the first episode of the Shadow Hunters like 3 minutes before I started writing this post. Let me just say WOW!
I am so freakin' excited about this series! It is defensively a new all time favorite!
To be completely honest, I had really low expectations for this series when I first saw the trailer. Which you can watch below:

I personally haven't actually completed the first book in this series... I know, I know! I am honestly so ashamed of myself! Like what kind of book lover am I if I haven't even finished the book!?!
But I have still read enough of it to cover all the events that happen in the first episode, so yay! I am not behind in my reading yet!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Now lets get into the fun, critical analysis of the character part of this post!!!

Clary: I found that I personally liked actress from the movie, Lily Collins, as Clary more. I mainly liked that her hair color looked more natural. But, over the duration of this episode, I felt as though I grew to like the new actress.

Jace: I actually LOVE this new Jace! Like he is seriously way more accurate and to be honest hot than the movie version of Jace. I also like the way that he is portrayed better in the TV series and that he is way more natural looking. Overall, I'm a big fan of the new Jace!
(As a side note, I was just looking for pictures of Jace and just found out that he is Christian from Vampire Academy!!! Like WOW! Also check out his eyes! )

Magnus: I actually really liked the actor that portray's Magnus from what I have watched so far. He hasn't made that much of an appearance but I feel as though both the movie and the TV show Magnus have done the book justice.

Simon: I really liked the character Simon and love the portrayal of his relationship with Clary. Funniest irony moment when Clary and him are talking about love that is right in front of you and he is just sitting there like, "Okay, yea Clary, I know nothing about unreciprocated love..."

Luke: This character was so different to the movie, but I feel as though both of the actors really pulled off the Luke character successfully. Overall, I liked him!

Alec: He didn't really play a major part in this first episode, but I did feel as though his actions and the way e looked were dead on. Especially the way he got jealous about Jace and Clary.

Isabelle: I was so very happy to find that she looked perfect for the role. Her hair and style is dead on. I did feel as though she was a little too nice to Clary, Isabelle is meant to be an absolute bitch... But otherwise she was all good!

Jocelyn: I though that Jocelyn was not entirely who I would have picked to play the role... I preferred Clary's mum from the movie, but I think that similarly to Clary, this actress could grow on me. I just have to mention how cool it was when she stood facing away from the camera and the sword came out! So cool!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Okay, so that is a totally random post about me emotions about the first episode of the SHADOWHUNTERS! Overall, I am quite pleased with the cast and acting, and I am looking forward to continuing to watch this show in the future (thank gosh, Netflix has a new episode being aired each week!).

Until next time, keep reading (and watching SHADOWHUNTERS!)
